Lucet

I use a simple lucet to make cords that go around a hand-woven cover for the copy of The Constitution that is included with each quilt.

Recently I was doing some research online for information regarding the history of the Singer model 237 sewing machine. A wonderful place for sewing machine info is ISMACS - The International Sewing Machine Collector's Society.  While looking through their pages, I found a link to a manual that I had been unable to find before - to a Military manual on repairing and maintaining sewing machines.

Military Manual Chapter 4  - pages 51 and 57 (top right navigation) have info on Singer 31-15

For many Veterans, PTSD or other traumas change their lives.  Susan Boyle echoes this type of change in her rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables

Over the past several weeks, I have had many more seizures than "normal".  I believe I am a little more back-on-track now for my sewing, and am starting to do the piecing on Quilt 4.  This time has not been wasted though, as I have been using a Spirograph set to help with my own PTSD, similar to what many Veterans go through.  I don't think the general public realizes that when a soldier gets PTSD from trauma, their life changes dramatically.  I am relatively "safe" in that I am not homeless.  Any homeless Veteran would have a more difficult time getting themselves focused again, despite seizures or other medical issues.

Please support your local Veterans.

On January 23, 2017, I had a seizure that was worse than my "average" seizure.  It has affected my ability to finish the quilts that I have started in a timely manner.  As such, I am suspending my work on Quilts For Veterans.  I have had something in common with some Veterans: PTSD.  Since the seizure, I have found that working with a Spirograph helps tremendously with PTSD symptoms.  I have uploaded a video to YouTube describing how this may help other people with PTSD., which can be seen here:

As I take care of my own health, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this project, and most especially thank every Veteran for their Service, for keeping us Free.

Thank A Vet, Never Forget
