For approximately three years I have been making Quilts For Veterans, while also continuing to be an artist, knitter, weaver, carver, crocheter, spinner, etc.  My Etsy shop Cape Cod Knit is a venue for my knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and weaving patterns. I am continuing to honor our American Veterans by knitting socks for them.

I have written many sock patterns myself, but for the Veterans, I have adapted a vintage pattern. The ease of knitting these is one aspect, but the fact that this particular pattern can fit "anyone" is really why I am using this pattern. The original pattern was a Columbia-Minerva pattern, published in the 1960s.

"Never Alone" Socks
Pattern (c) 2017 laeom

The white yarn stands for hallowed ground, the red border stands for life-saving and life-threatening (Service), and there are a couple of rows of handspun wool in the border which stands for American land, American farmers, America. Thank You For Your Service!

In the Washington D.C. area, Service Dogs for Veterans:

Everyone can use some good luck!  In the photo below you see small wood pieces that I am painting as good luck ladybugs for homeless Vets. These are painted in oil and will be slightly detailed. Although it may seem a little hokey, hanging on to good luck always helps!
